Pre-meet today. mile wu and then an 800 on the grass at race pace. Mine ended up being a 3:08 which is a little fast but close enough. After did some starts. Finished up mileage by going out-and-back down the MCT towards Smith's where we got some water ( I <3 smiths ) and came back. Legs are feeling good, and I excited for BYU tomorrow!

BYU Invite today! Warmed up a mile then did drills and stuff. Started out pretty fast but still controlled, and hit a 6:11 or so. Second mile was substantially slower (what else is new) with a 6:24, and last mile was a 6:31. Overall not bad splits, but I really think I could have kept it around a 6:20 for the last two miles. Last hill was also rough and I should have pushed it more going up that. In the last 200m I got passed by a couple Davis girls, but I at least caught one so that was good. I felt like overall I had a good race mentally. I stayed pretty positive and had an attainable goal. Also... the race definitely paid off because we got SECOND! Great job to my great team :) after the race cooled down a few miles with some of the girls and Bill! it was so fun to see her and Bridge!

Medium recovery today with Mario. We tried to figure out a good course for our orchestra's 5k fundraiser, but it was a little difficult. Legs felt a little tired for the first couple of miles, but then they felt good for the rest. Appr pace about 8:15 or so. After did abs and hips.

Easy mile wu and then a speed workout on the track, which tbh was super fun bc we haven't done one of those in so so long! It was 1000m at 5k race pace and then a 200m jog, then a 200m sprint, then 3:30 min of rest - six sets of that. My splits for the 1000s were: 3:58, 4:02, 3:58, 3:57, 3:56, my last one was a 3:39 :) All of our times were on pace and my legs felt super good and strong so overall the workout was a big win. Missed my buddies Gan and Guppy tho... hope they had a fun time at USU. After I did about half a mile on the grass to finish up then abs and hips and ya, know... a few pushups ;)

So this was sort of a frustrating race. First (after a mile wu), we had the weirdest start ever. Like, NO ONE was ready and then all of a sudden the gun goes off. Like what even? Also the bib situation was a little rough haha. Also my legs felt so tired from the past few days so I was a little worried about this race. Anyway. First mile was fast due to mucho downhill. It was a 5:49. Second mile dropped WAY down and looking back I was kind of a baby as far as mental game goes. It was like a 6:30. I should have surged on more of those little hills in the middle because after almost every single one there was a downhill to match. Last 0.88 was like a 5:40, but should have been a lot faster because I was a little confused about the course. I thought the last hill was going to be way longer than it was and also a lot farther from the end so I was trying to pace myself but I should have gone a lot faster than I did. Also I thought we had to loop around like the whole field, but we didn't -_-. But I guess it could have gone a lot worse. I ended up 32 which is definitely not what I wanted (I wanted like top 20-25). Not trying to make excuses but I think if my legs had felt a little better and I had known the course I could have done so much better and got a lot better place. Also team got 6th I think which was pretty disappointing, but I know everyone was a little tired to start out with. (got in a little bit of "anger mileage" as well) We'll get em next time tho. Afterward did about 5 more miles with Gan and a few of the boys which was fun.

Cross trained today. Did a few miles (or about half an hour) on the eliptical doing an easier hill workout, and then biked for about 20 more minutes. Then did some upper body weight stuff cuz ya know, gotta get buff ;)

First day of "Awesome Week" today, and I'm super duper excited to say that so far it's be pretty awesome! Today we did whistle hills. Warmed up about a mile to "Wahoo Hill" (name cred to Guppy) where we did three sets of 15,20,25 seconds with our rest just being the jog back. Overall it was definitely one of our easier workouts, but it's still great and I tried to push myself. I felt really strong too so that was a win. After we finished up low mileage and did abs and hips.

 Today we ran "the kicker" for day two of AWESOME week. Mile down to the start to warm up. Before I wasn't exactly super motivated, but shoutout to  Matt for getting me in the right spirit haha. Started out not too crazy fast - a good pace. Felt really good until like halfway up the hill (no duh it's a hill) but I did a little surge and didn't get too off pace. I lost focus for a little bit after the hill and I think that took a few seconds off. I tried to catch Dylan and Squirrel and did... for awhile. But in the end Dylan out-kicked me and I'm not really sure if Squirrel did too. Oh well, it was still a PR for me (by about 11 seconds) and was especially exciting because I finally broke 10 minutes and came in at a 9:54. Shoutout to Mario and Kaylee because I think they both PRd and they rocked it. After we just finished up mileage and did abs and hips (and pigeon pose) and then we hit the SOLW. It was cold.

Day four of awesome week and still going... barely. Jk I was actually feelin decent today. We did four mile repeats on the grass for our workout and let me just say that I do NOT enjoy mile repeats. Nevertheless, I wasn't upset with my times. I think my times were 6:13, 6:15, 6:13, and 6:04. With five minutes rest inbetween. So solid, but I died. After did a half mile cool down and abs and such. Shoutout to da girls for furthering "the vision" today with their hard work. Love 'em.

I did in fact run today (@Collin). Twas low recovery, but I felt pretty great considering how hard yesterday's workout was. Ran out past smith's halfway down the dip thing and then back. Not a super good route but whatevs. After did abs and hips and some pushups. 

Later had a way fun time with some of the LP and PG kids. Shoutout to Zack for organizing it!

Last day of awesome week today (crying rn). Seriously I love awesome week tho. Wu and then we did the legendary hill ladder workout up airport 3x100,200,300,400,500. The first set was hard just cuz I think my legs hadn't woken up yet, but I actually felt lots better on the second and third set. I felt really strong the last 500m which was surprising haha. Honestly the workout was not as bad as the last time I did it, but it was still pretty hard. Overall awesome week was a huge success and I'm proud of what I did. Hopefully I can bring it into my race next weekend.  

Also shoutout to all the boys on the team and especially Parker (aka Chuck) for a super fun xc hoco!

Medium recovery today. Ran through the dip by smith's and over to the park by freedom/ the MCT and did a barefoot grass mile. Good run and a quality talk with Gan. After did abs and hips and I'm ashamed to say I got a little provoked by a certain name... smh.

New loop today. Down the MCT towards Thanksgiving Point, and then back mostly on the rail trail. Good run for the most part. Legs were kinda tired. After we went over to the SOLW but it was turned off. I am still crying inside. Shoutout to Gan for an epic splish-n-splash slip.

3 miles at recovery to start and then a mile of speed changes on the grass. Felt pretty good and it was a great surprise to hear it was low mileage. After did one more cool down mile on the grass. 

Shoutout to myself for doing "the plan part II". I'd say it was a success.

Finally got to the Bob Firman course after a longish bus ride. Did a mile wu and then ran the course, which is like the best ever, IMHO. After that we did the last 800m or so of the course at race pace and then did some starts. My legs were feelin pretty fresh and ready so I'm way excited to see what tomorrow brings :)

*also mega-unshoutout to whoever helped throw me in the pool. I was very provoked.

Soooo, fun day at Bob Firman today. It was also basically perfect racing conditions so that was a win. Got there and chilled for a little bc my race (elite varsity girls) wasn't for a litte bit. Then warmed up a mile and did drills. Got to the start line and had to wait forever cuz technical issues, but we had a pretty great dance party while we waited. Race started, and I got stuck in a pretty bad position, I think because of our box placement, so the first part was a little rough. After like 3/4 of a mile I finally got in a better position tho so it was fine. First mile was a little fast at a 5:57, but second mile of course slowed down a lot... I really need to work on that haha. One of my goals for this race was to stick with these two davis girls and for the last couple miles I was tailing them. Got to the hill second time around and almost died (well not really) but I tried really hard to pick it up after I got to the top. I felt like I had a good kick this time and I ended up passing the davis girls (not exactly sure when) and then towards the end I also passed a girl from AF and one from Pineview. Finished with a good course PR (40 seconds) and a normal PR (about 8 seconds) as well, if you can count that sort of thing in xc. Looking back I probably could've kept the pace the second mile and then got harder the last mile, but overall I'm proud of this race. Also the rest of the team did awesome as well and we ended up 7th right behind Pineview, who we are gonna for sure get next time. After did a two mile cool down.

So today was crazy. Did a two-mile wu and then we did the "6-minute test". Got a little farther than I did last time, but I definitely could have done better I think. My legs are just not used to going that fast haha. Also my pacing was not the best. Oh well. Shoutout to Mario who dominated this workout. After I had no time to finish mileage because of a conflict, and I just was not able to get it done. I guess I can only do so much.

More speed today. Mile wu and then we did 200,400,800,1600,800,400,200. The 200s and 400s were at mile pace. 60 sec rest after the 200 and 90 sec after the 400. The 800s and 1600 were at 5k pace. 2:30 rest after the 800s and 3:30 after the mile. Hit 40, 82, 3:00, 6:05, 3:00, 78, and 32 (i think). Overall it was an okay workout. My legs were not feeling the whole "let's go fast" thing today so I struggled on the ones at the end that were mile pace. However all were slightly below pace so i'm not gonna say it was bad. After did a grass barefoot mile and then the two-mile loop. Legs and feet felt wrecked. Abs and hips after.

Ended up being a little faster than pace even tho my legs felt like, well, very heavy sticks... anyway. after did some starts with the team and then finished up mileage, which was about 5.5 more miles. Went with some of the girls and Jamie down the MCT to the rail trail, along that for awhile, and then back. Legs were super tired overall. I think i'll be able to pull it together tomorrow for the meet... hopefully. Abs, hips, and ice bath after.

Well long story short, my legs were wrecked from all the workouts and high mileage this week, but I tried hard. Stuck with this Springville girl for like 90% of the time but she out kicked me in the end :/ Ended up finishing 8th. After had a good cooldown of about 5 miles.
